Summary

What it measures:

The Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) is a self-report measure developed to assess the patient’s perception of shoulder pain and disability during daily activities.

Target Population:

This summary contains information on the use of this test in patients with the following conditions:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (Christie, Dagfinrud, Garratt, Osnes, & Hagen, 2011)
  • Adhesive capsulitis (Tveitå, Ekeberg, Juel, & Bautz-Holter, 2008; Staples, Forbes, Green, & Buchbinder, 2009)
  • Rotator cuff disease (Ekeberg et al., 2008)
  • Shoulder impingement (Engebretsen, Grotle,Bautz-Holter, Ekeberg, & Brox, 2010)
  • Shoulder pain (Hill, Lester, Taylor, Shanahan, & Gill, 2011)
  • Neurogenic or undetermined origin (Roach, Budiman‐Mak, Songsiridej, & Lertratanakul, 1991)
