Berg Balance Scale (BBS) for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
Summary
What it measures:
- This summary measures balance and contains information on use of this test in patients or clients with spinal cord injuries and is recommended for use with people with an acute (<2 months), subacute (2-6 months), and chronic (>6 months) injury and recommended for use with people with the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) Impairment Scale (AIS) C/D classification. For people with AIS A/B classification, use is reasonable, but there is limited research.
- The test assesses performance on 14 different tasks involving functional balance control, including transfer, turning, and stepping.
