Heads up: The APTA Learning Center will transition to a new platform beginning Jan. 1, 2023. The retooled resource will provide a more customizable user experience with improved search functions and an easy-to-use interface to collect and store your CE certificates — even those from outside APTA's offerings. Bottom line: Look for some major improvements.

The changeover will, however, require users of APTA's current Learning Center platform to make sure they've tied up any loose ends before the switch. Members will receive email notifications about the transition, but in the meantime, here's what you need to know.

Save your older CE certificates.
Does your APTA Learning Center "My Transcript" profile include CE certificates for courses you completed before 2016? If you think you'll need them, you'll want to download and save them elsewhere, because they won't transfer over to the new platform. However, once the new platform is launched, you'll be able to upload them back into your profile yourself.

And while you're at it, it might be a good idea to save your more recent CE certificates, too.
CE certificates earned in 2016 and later will be transferred to your transcript profile in the new system, but there could be a delay in your ability to access them. If you think you might need to get to them soon after Jan. 1, it's probably a good idea to download them as well.

Be ready to complete any courses set to retire by Dec. 31.
Several older APTA Learning Center courses will be unavailable after Dec. 31, so if you've registered for a course and haven't completed it yet, you'll need to finish (and download your CE certificate) by the end of the year. How will you know which courses are being retired? APTA's Learning Center will send you an email letting you know if you have any courses that need to be wrapped up.

Watch for APTA Learning Center emails that help you prepare for the switchover (and check your spam folder).
APTA's Learning Center will also notify you about any courses you've registered for but haven't completed — even if that course isn't among those slated to retire (see "Be ready…" above). The reason: Even though these non-retiring courses (and your registration for them) will be moved to the platform, if you've started but not completed a course before the transition, you won't be able to pick up where you left off after Jan. 1 (you'll have to start all over again). And remember, in addition to not leaving any courses incomplete, it's a good idea to download the related CE certificates should you need them soon after Jan. 1. Another tip: Sometimes email programs push APTA Learning Center messages into spam folders, so be sure to check more than just your main inbox.
