Title IX dramatically expanded women's access to higher education — including but not limited to participation in collegiate athletics.

Of course, improving equity isn’t the same thing as achieving equity.

That's why APTA is encouraging the physical therapy profession to complete a brief survey designed to measure the current state of equity in sports medicine. Deadline for completion is June 6 (extended from June 1).

Administered by the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the survey asks health care providers to evaluate the levels of respect, equity, and opportunity they experience in the workplace. It also provides a space to describe the personal impact of Title IX.

APTA is committed to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the association, profession, and society. APTA's DEI resources include links to suggested climate scan tools, which a workplace or organization can use to assess its inclusivity.

As a participating organization, APTA will share the results of NATA's survey once released.
