The most prepared associations look far into the horizon to consider how societal changes, economic developments, and technological advancements might impact how they will operate and thrive in the long term.

APTA and leaders from its chapters and sections/academies engaged in a foresight project to look beyond the association’s current strategic plan. This foresight work involved collecting feedback from key stakeholders on orthodox beliefs in the physical therapy profession and within APTA, about the most significant issues facing both the physical therapy profession and APTA over the next 10 years, and for perspectives on foresight and the future.

Survey responses and stakeholder engagement formed the basis of APTA's orthodoxy map and APTA’s foresight timeline, captured in APTA's Foresight Project Report.
