While one-to-one care is the main focus of most physical therapy providers, looking at the health of a population — however you define it — can reveal patterns and obstacles that can be addressed. The topic is especially timely, as this week is National Public Health Week, and April 7 is World Health Day. April also is both Stress Awareness Month and National Minority Health Month.
In this podcast, we explore what population health is, and how a population health approach to physical therapy can have tangible effects on the health of society. APTA Senior Practice Specialist Hadiya Green Guerrero, PT, DPT, is joined by population health expert Anne Mejia-Downs, PT, PhD, MPH, and Dawn Magnusson, PT, PhD, a member of the APTA Health Promotion and Wellness Council.
